Spinndrift are an exciting new 5 piece band formed on the Folk and Traditional Music Degree at Newcastle University, and have been playing together for three years now. This year they were finalists in the New Roots competition and have performed in folk clubs across the country and at The Sage Gateshead. This summer they performed to great acclaim at Sidmouth, Dartmoor and Bideford festivals.
Spinndrift perform a range of folk and traditional music (both instrumental and vocal) from the British Isles and Europe, and also perform their own self-penned material. They are a ceilidh band, concert band and incorporate traditional dancing into their sets as well. Harbouring a range of instruments, includeing melodeon, fiddles, voice, oboe, flute, whistle, cello and voice; Spinndrift offer a delightful and dynamic performance with spirit and flair.
Spinndrift are available for corporate events, concerts, ceilidhs, workshops, festivals and folk clubs. The members of Spinndrift all hold enhanced CRB disclosure and can offer workshops or tuition in: melodeon, fiddle, oboe, flute, whistle, cello, voice, morris dance, molly dance, broom dance, ensemble and group work and choir/group and harmony singing.
